Organic Certification Gives You Buying Power

Be a savvy shopper and get to know what labels mean for you.

Don’t get ‘greenwashed’

You’ve probably seen the stories in the media about some beauty brands casting a bad name for their genuinely natural and organic sisters. If a brand isn’t certified, it’s hard to read between the lines and work out for yourself whether it’s what it claims to be.

Luckily, more and more ethical brands are becoming certified (we’ve chosen Ecocert - more on that later), which avoids confusion and makes shopping for pure products a whole lot easier. It also means we aren’t ‘greenwashing’ – jumping on the eco bandwagon just because it’s the latest trendy thing and trying to convince you that a product is all things green (eco friendly, natural, organic, ethical or fair trade) when it isn’t.

Just when you thought you’d do your bit and swap conventional for eco-credible products, you come up against shelves full of creams with great sounding buzzwords and worse, unrecognisable ‘certification’ logos. Own-brand certification makes things even more confusing and is doesn’t do much for the integrity of the whole certification business.

Why we chose Ecocert

We think it’s a bit unfair that some of the media is sweeping all natural and organic brands under one dishonest umbrella, (let alone singling out ingredients which have been used for years with safe, effective results). But, the easiest way to know your organics from your sham-anics is to look out for certified products - the recognised logos you’ll mostly see on products in the UK are Ecocert and The Soil Association. We chose Ecocert as we wanted to give customers complete reassurance that Purity Organic Skincare products are what they claim to be. Having the endorsement of an internationally renowned independent organic certification body such as this, means that our products meet rigorous criteria (let’s just say it’s not easy getting certified…but worth it!) Ecocert not only scrutinises the integrity of the ingredients used, but their checks also make certain that we respect and care for the environment, monitoring everything from our packaging to how the products are transported and stored.  We wanted to be as clear and transparent as possible to avoid any confusion and let you make trusted, informed choices about your skincare.

What does organic mean?

Ecocert's criteria for organic brands means that a minimum of 95% of the plant ingredients included must be certified as natural and a minimum of 10% of the plant ingredients must be certified as organic. All ingredients must be grown organically in the wild or without the use of chemical fertilizers. Purity Organic Skincare is one of the first brands to be certified by Ecocert available at a totally affordable price - hooray for us!
