AOL News reports sunblocks could be accelerating cancer

 We found this AOL News article which indicates that the sunblocks available in the US may be causing more harm than protection. They have more chemical based blocks in the US than we do in UK and Europe. The article is unproven but indicates that there have been studies done showing that derivatives of Vitamin A when used as the active ingredient in SPFs can actually accelerate tumour growth and cancer rates. The article also indicates that another SPF chemical, Oxybenzone is a possible hormone disruptor (we don't like those at all at Purity!). Finally, there are mineral SPFs (we have more of those in UK and Europe) and the minerals used, like titanium dioxide, can now be nanopartticles which still have unproven effects. We still think a hat is the best option when available!
